Medical Disclaimer

We publish information to make IVF and its costs easier to plan. It is not medical, financial or legal advice, and this page draws that line as clearly as we can.

We are not a health service

CairnFertility is an editorial information service. We are not a clinic, hospital or registered health practitioner, and no doctor reviews your situation through this site. Using the site does not create a doctor and patient relationship or any other professional relationship.

Everything here is general information for educational purposes. It is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, however specific it may seem.

Cost estimates are estimates

The cost plan starts from a clinic's published fee and our summary of the Medicare Benefits Schedule, the Extended Medicare Safety Net and the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme. It shows what those rules would pay on that fee. It cannot show what you will actually pay, because clinics change their fees, your Safety Net total depends on everything you have claimed this calendar year, and Medicare amounts change: fees are usually indexed on 1 July and the Safety Net thresholds on 1 January.

Each figure shows its source and the date we checked it. Services Australia decides what Medicare pays you, and your clinic's written quote is the only firm price. Ask for one before you start.

Funding guides explain the rules, not your case

Where we summarise Medicare, state schemes, public fertility services or private health insurance, we describe the published rules and link to them. Whether you qualify, and for how much, is decided by the scheme, your insurer or your clinic. Where we could not check a rule against an official source, the page says so.

No endorsements, in either direction

No clinic, insurer or government body has endorsed this site, and none pays us. Clinics are listed A to Z from their own published fees, and no clinic pays to appear or to change its place. A clinic appearing here is not a recommendation, and leaving one out is not a criticism. We do not publish patient testimonials about clinics or treatments.

If something about a clinic is wrong or out of date, email hello@cairnfertility.com and we will check it against the source and correct it.

Where to get real help

Talk to your GP or a fertility specialist before starting, stopping or changing any treatment.

  • In an emergency, call 000. Don't rely on any website, including this one.
  • If you are struggling, call Lifeline on 13 11 14, any time.
  • For questions about what Medicare will pay you, contact Services Australia.
  • If you have a concern about a health practitioner, the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) can help. For a concern about a clinic or health service, contact the health complaints body in your state or territory.

Note: If anything on this site conflicts with what your doctor, your clinic's quote or Services Australia tells you, they win. Every time.
