Privacy Policy
Fertility is one of the most personal subjects there is, so we built these pages to know as little about you as possible. This policy explains what that means in practice.
Effective 1 November 2026
The short version
- We set no cookies and run no analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind.
- There are no accounts, no passwords, no forms and no payments on these pages.
- What you type into the cost plan stays in your own browser. It is never sent to us or to anyone else.
- We never sell personal information, never use it for marketing, and never use it to profile you.
- You can read every page without telling us who you are.
Who we are
CairnFertility is published by Alice Smith, trading as CairnFertility, based in the United Kingdom. This policy covers the pages whose address begins cairnfertility.com/au.
For anything about this policy or your personal information, email privacy@cairnfertility.com. For anything else, hello@cairnfertility.com reaches us.
We aim to handle personal information the way the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 require, whether or not the Act applies to a business of our size.
What we receive, and what we deliberately don't
Most of these pages are plain reading. Reading them sends us nothing beyond the technical information any website receives. This is every way personal information can arise today:
Cost plan answers
The cost plan asks for a clinic's fee, which cycle it is, whether you have reached the Medicare Safety Net and whether you hold a concession card. Those answers are held in your browser's memory while you use the page and disappear when you leave. They are never sent to our servers or to anyone else, and they are not put in the page address.
Which home page you see
When you open our home page, our hosting provider tells the site which country your IP address is in, and we use that only to show you the home page for your country. The country is not stored, not written to a cookie, and not used for anything else.
Hosting logs
Vercel, our hosting provider, processes your IP address and standard request information (browser type, pages requested, time) in short-lived logs used for security and to keep the site running. See Vercel's privacy policy.
Email you send us
If you email us, we receive your address and whatever you write, and we use it only to reply and keep a record of the correspondence. Please don't include medical details: we are not a health service and don't need them.
One note in your browser
If you open a page with ?app=1 at the end of its address, your browser keeps a note called cairn-app-preview so the site shows its app-style menu. It holds the value 1 and nothing else, is never sent to us, and Quick exit removes it.
Health information
Information about your health, including fertility, is sensitive information under Australian privacy law and deserves the most care. We handle it by making sure it never reaches us: the cost plan runs entirely in your browser. The only way health information could reach us is if you put it in an email.
If we ever build a feature that needs health information to leave your browser, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy before the feature goes live.
Who handles information for us, and where
Three companies handle information for us. Each holds it outside Australia:
- Vercel Inc., United States: hosts and serves the site and keeps its request logs.
- Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France): receives email sent to our addresses and sends our replies. Brevo stores data in the European Union.
- Google LLC, United States: provides the Gmail inbox where your messages and our replies are kept. Our inbox is an individual Gmail account, so Google handles the messages under its own terms, set out in Google's privacy policy, rather than under a contract with us.
The publisher reads email from outside Australia. We do not otherwise share personal information with anyone, and we do not sell it, trade it or use it for direct marketing. Links to other sites are ordinary links; nothing is sent to them unless you click through.
How long we keep it
Cost plan answers are never kept. Hosting logs are kept by Vercel for a short time under its own retention rules. Emails are kept for as long as we need them to deal with your message and keep a record, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.
Seeing, correcting or deleting your information
You can ask us whether we hold personal information about you, for a copy of it, to correct it, or to delete it. Email privacy@cairnfertility.com. We may ask you to confirm the email address you used with us, so we don't hand your information to someone else. We reply within 30 days and never charge.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email privacy@cairnfertility.com and tell us what happened. We will reply within 30 days with what we found and what we will do.
If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Children
This site is about fertility treatment and is meant for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When the site gains a feature that changes how personal information is handled, we will update this policy before the feature goes live and change the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the site, not made quietly.
