Cookie Policy
This site sets no cookies. This page says what that covers, names the three things we can store in your browser, and says what would have to change before that did.
Effective 2 November 2026
The complete list of cookies we use
As of the effective date above, CairnFertility sets no cookies: none that are strictly necessary, none for analytics, advertising or preferences, and no pixels, beacons or tracking. The one third-party script on the site is Cloudflare's bot check on our application form, explained under "Things that are not cookies" below.
We can store three things in your browser, each only after you do something that needs it. None of them ever leaves your device, and this list is complete:
cairn-community-application
Local storage. Written if you apply to the community. It records the date you applied, for 30 days, so the page can show your application was received instead of an empty form. It holds no name, email or answers, and 'Start a new application' clears it.
cairn-app-preview
Local storage. Written only if you open a link ending in ?app=1, which shows the site with the app's bottom tab bar. It holds the value 1 and nothing else. Opening a link ending in ?app=0 removes it.
cairn-demo-profile
Session storage. Written only if you try the community preview, which is a demo with example people. It holds the first name, pathway and stage you typed, so the demo can greet you. It is never sent to us and is deleted when you close the tab.
Earlier versions of the site could also write cairn:market-choice, and cairn:journey for the My IVF journey checklist, which has been removed. The site no longer writes or reads either; if your browser still holds them, clearing this site's data removes them.
That is why you see no cookie banner here. Consent banners exist to authorise non-essential cookies and similar storage. Each item above is written only when you use the feature it serves, and only to make that feature work.
Things that are not cookies
Hosting infrastructure
Our hosting provider (Vercel) processes standard server logs to deliver the site securely. That happens on their servers, not through anything placed in your browser.
The bot check on our forms
The community application form loads Cloudflare Turnstile, which reads technical signals from your browser to check that a person, not a script, is submitting. Cloudflare says Turnstile sets no cookies. It runs only on that form, only to protect them from spam, and is not used to track you across sites. The privacy policy explains what it sees.
If this ever changes
If we ever introduce a feature that needs cookies or similar storage (a login session, a saved comparison, or analytics), we will do three things before it ships:
- update this policy with a full table of every cookie: its name, who sets it, what it does, and how long it lasts;
- ask for your consent before any non-essential cookie is set, with "reject" exactly as easy as "accept";
- honour universal opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control.
You can also control or delete cookies for any site through your browser's settings. See your browser's help pages, or the ICO's guidance at ico.org.uk.
Note: If you find a cookie set by this site while this policy says there are none, tell us at privacy@cairnfertility.com and we will fix it.
