How we vet every practitioner

Nobody will be listed until every item below is done.

  1. Counsellors: professional register checked online and dated
  2. Peer supporters: Cairn training on boundaries, safeguarding and when to refer on
  3. Photo ID checked
  4. Two references taken up
  5. Their own professional indemnity insurance
  6. Basic DBS check
  7. Signed agreement covering scope, confidentiality, data handling and crisis steps
  8. Everything re-checked every year

What sessions are, and are not

Sessions are planning and emotional support, not medical care. Practitioners never diagnose, prescribe or advise on treatment; that stays with your clinic.

Peer supporters have been through treatment themselves and share what helped them. They are not counsellors or clinicians, and they will point you to a counsellor or your clinic when something needs one.

Want to support people through IVF?

Cairn is looking for its first BICA, BACP or UKCP registered fertility counsellors, and for people from every kind of family who have been through IVF and would like to support others. If that is you, we would like to hear from you.
